The Corvallis Modern Quilt Guild (CMQG) Monthly Meeting started via Zoom at 7pm, October 11, 2021, with Pattie Dix presiding. 28 people attended including two guests. This was the make-and-take meeting that the guild has every November.
December meeting and gift swap: The guild has a special holiday meeting every December with a gift exchange. This meeting is normally held at a restaurant, but this year will be held virtually on Dec 9. This year’s gift is a pillow cover. Names have already been exchanged via Elftster. For a party game we want members to send in a picture of themselves as a child. We will see if we can match the pictures with the adults. Please send photos to CMQGphotos@gmail.com.
Downtown display: The guild has a beautiful display of Christmas themed quilted objects in the Footwise Community Window, located at 301 SW Madison Ave. in Corvallis. The display is up until Nov 23.
Quiltcon Quilt: The theme this year is angles. Diana F designed the quilt and has finished the top and bottom with blocks made by her and other members. It looks terrific and is presently being quilted by Barb at Bolts to Blocks, who’s doing it at no charge to the guild. Thank you, Barb! It will be shipped to the Quiltcon convention and sold there for $300 to benefit The Women of Color Quilters Network and The Navajo Quilt Project.
Charity Quilts: Charity quilts are given to ABC House and should be at least 60 inches square and not be baby or holiday themed. Please get them to Sheila by December 1.
Queen of the UFOs: Lorna reported that the fund presently has over $200. The drawing will be held at the January meeting.
Book Club: The book club normally meets on the 4th Wednesday of the month, but the November meeting will be held on Dec 1. This month’s book is The Rosie Project. Contact Janet if you wish to participate.
Sew Day: Sew Day is Nov 27, from 9 to 6.
Show and Tell: In the future send photos of show and tell items to CMQGphotos@gmail.com.
Program: Lauren of the Cotton Patch led our make-and-take program. We made cute little needle minders from fabric, English paper piecing papers, and ceramic magnets.
The meeting ended at 8:30
